Last week we left off talking about the body of Christ and what it has to do. We admonished that the body of Christ has got to get back to making the main thing the main thing which is seeking first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; for it is only then that all these things shall be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).
Matthew 6:34 goes on to say, take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. What he is saying is that all the believer needs in this life is provided for him already but there is a gateway designated through which we are to obtain these needs. We need to consistently remind our minds of these truths. Hallelujah.
My brethren, I tell you the truth; often, the thing you think is your greatest need in this life is not what you need the most. Your greatest need in this life is to know God, to understand him and to walk with him. When you know God, understand and begin to walk with him, his treasures begin to unfold for you.
Furthermore, even as one looks upon the scenes of this natural life, you see people who are looked upon and have grown up to be some sort of role models; especially those that have not acknowledge God, you see their lives implode. It is like the life just caved in and this is because, Man was not designed to live without God.
Now I do not want to call names and I am not happy about this either but I just want to give examples: you look at people like Michael Jackson; you look at people like Tiger Woods who everyone thought was an angel from heaven. Because these people had little or no relationship with God, we are now finding out that what was driving their secret lives were illicit affairs, gambling, sex addiction, drug abuse and so on. These things killed Michael Jackson, broke up Tiger Woods’ marriage and almost ended his career.
I tell you the truth, man was never designed to live without God. Any height you achieve in this life; any glory you accumulate is this life without having God in the center of it is all rubbish. Man was not designed to live without God and only a fool will deny this. Psalm 53:1 says, the fool hath said in his heart, There is no God…
Another example of these so called role models is Oprah Winfrey who I am just watching and pitying and praying for, because if she does not change her ways and acknowledge God, I wonder what her end will be? Man must acknowledge that anything he is, is because of God.
God causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust. When man seizes to acknowledge his maker, even when God does not punish such a one, the fact that he is walking on a course that does not acknowledge God, he opens himself up to the prince of this world which is Satan. And Satan is a cruel master who will only use and dump you. He cares nothing for his subjects.
I know that when I say things like: man was never designed to live without God, many believers will acknowledge and say it is obvious and true: but the problem is that many believers do not live their lives as though they believe it. Many believers live with a head understanding and not a heart revelation of these truths. Many believers confess these truths with their mouths when it has not yet affected and taken hold of their hearts.
We as children of God must come to understand that the only thing that can satisfy us is God. Brethren, let us think about this thing deeply: if indeed it is only God that can satisfy us, then why do we seek other things with more fervency than we seek God when he is the only one that can truly satisfy? Bank accounts cannot satisfy you; money cannot satisfy you; only God can.
The Psalmist said in Psalm 63:1 that O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; then in Verse 5 he said, My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. The Psalmist is saying the Lord satisfies him right to his bone marrow: I tell you God satisfies. His presence satisfies.
In worship with tears, I said to God, all the sacrifices I have made in my life is worth it if just to have a moment in your presence; because in the presence of the Lord, there is a calming down and a filling with assurance for the future. You know that you are safe when you are full of God’s presence. Listen folks, we have got to understand these truths and let it seat deep in our consciousness.
I want you to read with me Psalm 39:1-5: I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: thenspake I with my tongue, LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.Then look at verse 5, I love this: Behold, thou hast made my days asan handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity: who are those that the world considers at their best? I think of Oprah Winfrey; I think of Tiger Woods; Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson; who, to some of us from that generation, were our Basket Ball and music legends. Where are they now? You see, man at his best state is vanity.
Psalm 39:6 goes on saying Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. ”Every man walks in a vain show”: can you see that when you are puffed up in yourself you are nothing? Especially we ministers who because of the anointing flowing through us, sometimes begin to think that we are the ones who anointed ourselves?
Psalm 39:7 goes on to say and now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Hallelujah! God does not want us walking in this earth like worms without “hope”. God wants us walking bold and confident but our confidence should have its source in God and not in we ourselves.
You see, when we begin to understand these things, we will find out that we do not have many problems in life. So many of the problems we encounter will just end. Praise God: man was indeed created by God to be satisfied by God alone.
Now consider this: Deuteronomy 10:12, 13 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
These scriptures came into my heart when the Spirit of God whispered to me and said that man’s crowning glory is to pursue a relationship with God and intimate fellowship with him: to know God and to walk with him. Deut 10:12 and 13 is what you and I are here in this world for and when you make this a priority, everything else that is in God’s hands comes into yours. Hallelujah.
