From AMEDU JOSEPH, Lokoja
Kogi East Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Ahmed Attah has said that all delegates of the zone have resolved to cast their votes for Governor Yahaya Bello in the gubernatorial primary election scheduled for this week’s Thursday to enable him consolidate on the gains of the first term.
According to the zonal leader, Bello’s, re-election in the 2019 November 16 governorship election is a done deal considering the level of support and commitment members of the party have shown which he said were anchored on his achievements in various part of the state.
Mr. Ahmed Attah who spoke to journalist in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital after the party’s stakeholder’s meeting on Monday, argued that Yahaya Bello remains the candidate to beat considering how enviable delegates hold him in the party especially from Kogi East.
He noted that despite that the governor comes from a different zone in the state; he has remained a detribalized governor with the Igala people strategically positioned in this government.
Rolling out some of achievements by the governor, Mr. Attah noted that the administration in the past three and half years undertook far-reaching reforms in the civil service which is the major crime of the governor, economic reforms through partnership with investor, flushing out of crimes and criminality in the state with outstanding results and most critical the clearing of workers’ salaries recently.
He added that voting against the governor is directly saying the road constructions and other projects as well as the appointments of Igala sons and daughters into government should be stopped.
Mr. Attah said when Igala men were at helm of leadership in the state, they received strong support from those in West and Central districts, but wonder why the major campaign against the governor should be that “Igala should takeover”.
“If Yahaya Bello could come second in 2015 while he was not in power, he will come out victorious with intimidating margin in the election having empower several people, majority who are neglected youths by past administrations”
This election is not between Yahaya Bello and the many candidates from Igala land, it is between the masses and the elites who have been pushed out from milking the stte, those who want to still bring their family members into the payroll and those who are not happy that the younger ones have taken over politics in the state
Attah said, “From all indications, from everything I have seen because we call regularly, we are very scientific, we don’t guess in the dark, Bello will win because the support is massive and very real among delegates”.
He cautioned the people to be wary of those singing the song of Igala agenda that is championed by former governors and their family members with the view of imposing their children on the state.
He assured the governor that all votes from Kogi East are intact for the governor whom he described as “detribalized, focused and sincere to deliver on the mandates of empowering young people and industrializing Kogi state”.
