The Spirit of God showed me how that the crowning glory of man is found in his intimate fellowship and relationship with God. The glory of man is to know God and to walk with him.
This is what Deuteronomy 10:12 and 13 are talking about: And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Mica 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? We need to understand that God has created us for his pleasure and for his pleasure alone. Revelations 4:11 says Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Today we are talking about seeking God while we are here alive on this earth. To seek God successfully we have to have our foundations right. We have to first understand the purpose for which God made us (which is for his pleasure) and then go ahead to making first things first and that is seeking God.
As long as the Christian does not have these foundations in place, he cannot walk in God’s unlimited increase. Because the higher you go in God, the more promoted you become and the more promoted you become the more God blesses you with abundance. However, abundance always places a demand on your foundation. Architects, builders and structural engineers know this.
When designing a building, the foundation is always designed factoring in the length, breath and height of the building that is going to be standing on it. If the foundation is not suitably designed to hold the building, the whole structure will come down crashing.
We need to understand that God is our life. Separated from God, man withers and dies like a leaf that is cut off from the stuck of a plant; and I am not only talking about those that are not born again but I am also talking about those who are born again but fail to maintain fellowship with God. Many people do not see the need to walk with God and seek him on a daily bases; this is because they do not understand that when they are separated from him, they are separated from joy, from peace, from preservation, from provision, from protection and so on. Seek God understanding that he is your life.
Jesus made some astounding statements in John 15:1-4aam the true vine and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Then in verse 4 he says, Abide in me… which means to maintain an uninterrupted existence in Christ. When you understand that Christ is the source of your life, you should then make up your mind that you will not live life outside of a vital connection to God.
John 15:4 says abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Child of God, know that everything you have been doing that has been productive and profitable is because of the life of God flowing in you.
Joh 15:5 continues, I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Understand that people can do a lot without God but also understand that without God’s approval on it, it means nothing. People can do a lot without God, even build a great ministry without God but know that whatever does not carry God’s approval is worth nothing.
Man was created to thrive and flourish in connection to God. It is a fool that thinks he can do without God as it says in Psalm 53:1, the fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Notice that Psalm 53:1 above is not only talking about a person that denies God’s existence; but foolishness also includes those who know God exists but still live there lives without a willingness to subject themselves under his authority and this category I find even includes a lot of Christians.
Now listen to me, because God operates on the earth through human vessels, if you are not willing to subject yourself to an individual that God has anointed and set up, then you are not willing to subject yourself to God’s authority because God does not operate in a vacuum here on the earth.
Have you noticed that this entire earth is authority based? The first authority structure every one of us who enters this earth is meant to encounter is that of our parents. We then find authority structures in schools: principals, teachers, instructors, prefects and so on. Than at work places etc. Without authority and order in the earth our lives will be confused.
No matter how rebellious you are, I tell you the truth, those soldiers wearing their camouflages and deployed at check points around town in these times of insecurity have authority over you.
So listed, our lives are designed to live in vital connection with God. I urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that this year, you should find a local church and get connected to it. Do not live your life without authority over you.
Now, understand that ministry gifts (Pastors, Evangelists and Apostles Etc.) are not supposed to control your life, your business and so on. That is not what God set them up to do. As I minister of the Gospel, I myself I am submitted to an honorable man of God who I call my Pastor. So I beg you in the name of Jesus, get connected to a local church because if the local church is planted by God, then Jesus is the ultimate covering over it.
Many people do not want to be connected to a local church because they do not want their lives to be regulated because when you make yourself connected then all of a sudden you are accountable. People want to come to church when they want to come to church and do not want to have any kind of accountability placed on them. But blessing is a function of responsibility and responsibility is a function of accountability. The more responsible you are and the more accountable you are, then the more you can be trusted by man and by God.
My dear friends, in this world we are living in you cannot live your life unconnected. If you do that the world will swallow you up. You need to be under authority and have a covering over you.
Foolishness is not just a refusal to acknowledge God’s existence but it is also, knowing he exists yet refusing to live in subjection to him. I tell you the truth; I will always challenge the lifestyle of anybody under my authority. I start with my children: as blessed as they are at this age, I challenge their lifestyles and when I need to, I administer the rod. I challenge the lifestyle of my household and then I challenge the lifestyle of the Lord’s household place in my care.
For example, when I see a member come to me out of the blues with an expensive car, I will bless God with him but first I will want to hear the full testimony. Another example is: I know your financial status to be poor but out of nowhere you give me a cheque for a million dollars: I will certainly want to know how the money came about. We have to be always above board because the world is merciless.
