Keffi Local Government Council of Nasarawa State is set to have recorded a significant improvement in it’s revenue generation capacities.

This development follows a dogged effort and determination of the local government  authorities to widen it’s scope and horizons towards harassing the abundant sources of revenue that were hitherto neglected by the previous administrations in the area.

The Executive Chairman of the council, Alhaji Mohammed Sami Maigoro made the disclosure in an interactive session with newsmen in his office during the week.

According to him, his administration has identified huge revenue success in the areas of tenement and ground rents in which big business organizations like hotels, private schools and others were made to be paying appropriate charges while other conventional sources of revenue were strengthened and reinvigorated for for an ultimatum result.

Maigoro further stated that the council in its bid to fortify it’s revenue generation capacity is working towards the establishment of a modern mechanic village and that of pan taker to take care of the artisans and also providing an enabling environment for business and commercial activities to florish in those areas.

Similarly the council is working hard towards resolving the lingering dispute between it and a businessman for it to take over the development and control of the overhead bridge market along Abuja road with a view to provide marketing space to many traders in the area and also use it to generate more revenue.

He explained that the determination to boost the revenue generation capacities of the council was borne out of the desire to live up to its obligation with the people coupled with the fact that the demand for  the services are quite numerous and unending thus it become highly imperative for the council to tighten it’s belt to face the challenges squarely.

The Chairman who expressed  gratitude for the support and cooperation of most people in the area as regards discharging their civic responsibilities through the payment of their revenue assured that the council on its part ensure that the ends justify the means through the judicious usage of all what were realized for their collective betterments.

He however advised that were unable to be paying their revenues to the council to always endeavor to do so as the council would go tough on defaulters, owing to the fact that paying of revenue is not only compulsory on every citizen but a demonstration of patriotism, and civic responsibilities on the part of the citizen.

While expressing his gratitude to the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for its various developmental programs and projects assuring that on its parts the council would ensure full support and partnership to ensure their realization for the people to real from them.
