As part of its effort to rid the state of criminal elements, the Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police has paraded one notorious cultist, named Ugochukwu Nwosu for alleged culpable homicide and unlawful possession of fire arms in Jenta-Adamu area of Jos-North local government area of the state.
Parading the suspect at the state headquarters of the Command in Jos last Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede said,”on 13/8/2019 at about 11:56pm, the Command raided Jenta-Adamu area of Jos-North local government area and in the process arrested one Ugochukwu Nwosu, male, 25 years old of the same area.
Akinmoyede told journalists that “His house was searched immediately and two (2) locally made pistols and five (5) cartridges were recovered. During interrogation he confessed to being a member of a dreaded cult group called “Black Axe”.
“He further informed the police that he was initiated sometime in December. 2018 and that he actively participated in the killing of one Chinedu Okoye , male, a.k.a Chimex at Chorbe Junction in Jos-North local government area”, the Commissioner disclosed.
In a similar vein, the Command has also paraded “one, Benjamin Stephen of Gada-Biu, Jos, who was fingered in most cult related activities at Gada-Biu and Kabong areas of the same Jos-North LGA which later established the source of his unlawful possession of fire arms”.
According to the Police Commissioner, “four (4) suspects, males were also paraded in a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and receiving stolen property, adding that, one Joe Black, male of Tudun-Wada, Jos reported at Rantya Police Division that on 9/08/2018 at about 7: 30pm, unknown persons broke into his computer games shop, located at Dong area of Jos-South local government area and made away with the following items: one (1) stabilizer, three (3) SP Games and one (1) Wall Fan. As result of diligent investigation, detectives of the Command on 17/08/2019 at about 4: 00pm arrested one, Victor Dogara and Isah Auta both males of Gada-Biu, Jos”.
“His interrogation led to the arrest of one, Kenneth Oche, male, of Utan area of Jos-North local government area and one, Zaradeen Abdulkarim, male of Dilimi in Jos-North LGA.
“During the search of the residences of the above named suspects, the following exhibits were recovered, one (1) locally made pistol, two (2) live cartridge ammunition”, CP Akinmoyede added.
The Commissioner of Police also told journalists that five (5) female suspects were arrested in connection to criminal conspiracy and trafficking of Chinedu Daniel, 1 year 8months and Chibuike Daniel, 1month old both of whom were males, adding that all the suspects would be charged to court according to their level of involvement in the illegal trade.
