From ANDRE D. BISYIT, Ilorin

As the  ongoing National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara state entered it’s forth day, the Plateau State contingents have continued its quest for medals by recording victory in Kokowa, Volleyball and Gymnastics.

In Kokowa, Plangnan Peter defeated her opponents from FCT and Gombe in the 50kg  to reach the quarter finals, while her male counterpart, Bokga Luka, in the 55kg fight, subdued other contestants from Kogi and Adamawa to pick the other quarter final ticket.

Also,  Plateau State male Volleyball team have defeated Delta 2-0 to book an encounter with Imo but It was not palatable for the Plateau female Hockey team as they loss 2-0 to a highly rated Kaduna team.

Meanwhile, team Plateau recorded its first medal in Gymnastics, but unfortunately was cancelled the reason said by the officials that no medal will awarded in all Gymnastics team event and all medals won by all states were withdrawn. But the decision did not deter Plateau Gymnastics team as they put the disappointment behind them to win two other bronze medals in Power Tumbling and Balance Beam by Christopher Christian Abary and Kane Adamu respectively, bringing their total number of medals won to 2.

In another development, Power-lifting has been excluded from this year’s tournament. This is because the sports could not attend the requisite minimum entries from the states.
