The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Nassarawa Gwong in Jos North local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, SP. Musa Hassan has bagged an award for professional approach to conflict management by the Plateau Peace Building Agency (PPBA).

THE NIGERIA STANDARD reports that the epoch making event took place at a Unity and Peace Discourse organized by PPBA held at the Hill Station Hotel, last Thursday as part of activities to observed the 2019 International Day of Peace celebration, an occasion that is marked every September 21 each year.

While presenting the award to the DPO, Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the state (SGS), Prof. Danladi Atu at the occasion commended the award recipient for his commitment and hard work in fighting crime and encouraged him to keep the flag flying in the quest to rid the society of crime.

Speaking shortly before the award presentation, Director General PPBA, Mr. Joseph Lengmang said that the award was in recognition of SP Hassan’s outstanding performances in the fight crimes and criminality within his Divisional office.

Mr. Lengmang said that since the mandate of the agency was to promote peace, it would continue to give special recognition to individuals and groups that help in mitigating conflict in their various communities in the state.

Speaking to some newsmen shortly after receiving the award the DPO Nassarawa Gwong, SP. Musa Hassan appreciated God and thanked the PPBA for the honour done to him, particularly for singling him out for the award.

  1. Hassan said that he was elated for the special recognition accorded to him, saying that the award would further spur him to do more in other to portray the good image of the Police Force.

He noted that as a DPO his duties were not without some challenges, but stressed that with the support of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Plateau State Command, the Nassarawa Gwong Police Divisional office was able to do its best in bringing crime to its barest minimum.

He showered accolade on all officers and men of the division for working tirelessly to see that crime and other social vices within his division were always shut in the leg, so as to stop it from further escalation.

The DPO promised to unite communities within his division to live together as one family, irrespective of their tribe or religions, adding that he has a good working relationship with the members of the community including the neighborhood watch.

  1. Hassan called on the people of his division to always give his officers and men the needed support and cooperation to enable them perform their duties.
