The coalition of United Political Parties (UPP) has alleged plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence the selection of the Supreme Court Justices who will sit on the panel filed by the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) and it presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, CUPP spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyen said, the coalition has intercepted a secret list of a seven man panel of the justice of Supreme Court about to be announced by the chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) who would sit on the appeal.
The plan he said was to jettison the age long tradition of selecting the members of the panel in the order of seniority.
He listed the seven most senior Justices and their year of appointment to include. The CJN, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed 2006) Bode Rhodes Vivour (2010) Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta (2011) many Odili (2011) Musa Datijo Mohammed (2012) Olukayode a (2011) and Kumuyi Bayang (2012).
Ugochinyen alleged that the CJN wants to divert from the traditional and replace some of the justice with justice with their juniors.
