Over 300 women have benefited from the women empowerment programme of ten thousand naira each cash gift with the sole aim of alleviating poverty initiated by member of the Nasarawa State’s House of Assembly representing Keffi West Constituency, Hon. Aliyu Ibrahim Nana to mark his 100 days in office in Keffi over the weekend.
Similarly, over 60 indigent students in the constituency were assisted with money to pay for their final year examination (NECO) in the area.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony in Keffi, he stated that the amount involved which was over three million naira was in fulfillment of his campaign promises to his constituents and promised to continue to do more in that regards.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to commission his constituency office built at the cost of N5.2million and engage the services of 12 staff with the sole aim of receiving complaints, suggestions and organizing constituency briefings.
He assured that the office would be constantly at work gathering complaints and advice digesting it and arranging it.
Nana also disclosed that as part of efforts towards supporting the educational needs of students in his constituency, he has forwarded names of 25 students who applied to either the Nasarawa State University Keffi or the Federal University Lafia to secure admission for them.
Other efforts he said includes the donation of 15 cows, 50 bags of rice, and 20 rams worth millions of Naira to enable them celebrate ceremonies and enhance their welfare.
While expressing his gratitude to the people of his constituency for their constant and encouraging support, he promised to work with all the relevant government agencies to bring meaningful development that would help them reap the dividends of democracy.
Our correspondent reports that the ceremony attracted solidarity messages from the representatives of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Hon. Wada Adamus among other top politicians in the area.
Meanwhile, Hon. Nana has congratulated Governor Abdullahi Sule for his victory at the election petition tribunal and prayed God to guide him in taking the state to the next level.
