THE National Coordinator and Managing Director of Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperative Society Mr. Tedheke Retson has urged Nigerians to invest massively in agriculture as a means of rejuvenating the nation back to the path of prosperity.
Retson who gave this advice recently while speaking with newsmen in his office at NFGCS Farms Center, Ga’ate community in Kokona LGC of Nasarawa State, noting that since Nigeria is abundantly blessed with agricultural potentials greater investment in that sector would be a veritable key to prosperity and job creation to millions of the citizens as well as poverty reduction.
“Since agriculture is embedded with greater opportunities and potential investment into it will create wealth and job to the millions of Nigerians as well as a veritable means of diversifying the economy and also keep the youths away from criminal activities”, he observed.
He stated that the farm was able to acquire three thousand hecters of farm land at Ga’ate owing to the fact that the community has identified that they would also benefit, adding that they would do their best to bring meaningful development in the area of agriculture by adding value to the sector.
Retson however disclosed that the farm has employed more than 3000 people from Ga’ate community and other neighboring communities as it is also engaged in various community services to its host.
Meanwhile, the company would in a short while flood the Nigeria markets with it’s processed and packaged Ga’ate gold rice as part of efforts to add value to the agricultural transformation of the country.
