THE Senate President Ahmed Lawal has restated that the senate would pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) in 2020.

He gave the assurance recently while inaugurating the senate 69 standing committees stressing that the Petroleum Industry Bill which had been in the National Assembly would be passed by the relevant committees were expected to take the lead in the senate’s determination to reform this vital sector.

Speaking on the inauguration of the senate standing committee, Senator Lawal said it is a departure from previous ways of inaugurating the committees in order to save time, adding that with the receipt of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), the preparation for the 2020 Appropriation Bill is on top gear and could be received soon.

He stressed that “As we set to start we expect the total cooperation of the executive arm of government. The senate expect the ministers and head of agencies to be forth coming and responsive to the engagement request of our committees.
