THE National Council of Women Societies (NCWs) Plateau State branch has congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on the Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary.
This was contain in a press statement signed by the President, Caretaker Committee of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Felicia Bala and Public Relations Officer, Lucy Chindaba a copy of which was made available to SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos last Wednesday.
The statement said “the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Plateau State congratulates President Muhammadu Buhari on the 59th Independence Day celebration of Nigeria.”
It commended strides made thus far by the president in the country to remain one in spite of our diversities.”
The NCWS however thanked “the president for the recent appointment of seven (7) women into his cabinet to serve in various key ministries” and also appealed for more appointments for the women in line with the 35% Affirmative Action to actualize the next level mandate of the current administration.
Similarly, NCWS congratulated the Plateau State Governor “Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, His Deputy Prof. Sonni Tyoden Her Excellency Mrs. Regina Bako Lalong First Lady and Patron on the occasion of the country’s 59th Independence Day celebration.
It however appreciated the assistance to the council, particularly as the council prepares for the state elections and encouraged women to rise up to their task as good citizens by supporting the government from the grassroots to Federal level in order to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
The society called on the government to intensify efforts towards solving the problem of insecurity in the country, which is being experienced especially, farmers/herders clashes, kidnapping and armed banditry among others.
