It was tears, sorrow and lamentation following an accident that occurred around Afcott company near Ngurore town of Yola South on Wednesday causing the death of eight persons and about fourteen persons who sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to reports, a vehicle conveying a corpse from Jada to Guyuk was on its way but a starlet in overtaking the vehicle did not see the coming Toyota Corrola from the opposite end and before the starlet could brake, the accident occurred.
Eye witness account has it that both vehicles were on top speed thus both drivers lost their bearings.Our correspondent was told that the accident occurred at a dangerous bent.
One of the victims a woman had her head cut off from the neck and this led to heavy wailing by sympathisers at the scene.
Sympathisers expressed worry that the bent has consumed so many lives in the past and they wondered when motorists will ever be cautious when driving along that route.
It will be recalled that some few years back, the bus belonging to the Adamawa chapter of the N.U.J. crashed at the spot while on its way from Ganye to Guyuk.
Wednesday is always the market days of Ngurore and traffic is usually very heavy.
Confirming the incident, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Adamawa State Mohammed Hussaini said the dead and those injured were deposited at the Yola Specialist Hospital.
Commander Hussaini said the incident was as a result of reckless driving.
He urged motorists to be cautious when driving and to obey road signs.
The commander disclosed that September months are dangerous months. At the Specialist hospital, people were seen trying to confirm if they could recognize any one.
