Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
In the actual rendition of Psalm 121 David starts with the question: shall I lift up my eyes unto the hills? Is my help coming from there?
Now not that “The hills” for the Israelite were their place of defence. The hills also represent the arm of the flesh, i.e. the advantages you may have naturally such as the human connection you may have, your big bank account or the guarantee you may have to stay in that position because the boss likes you. Those are the hills.
Is your help coming from the hills? No, your help comes from the Lord.
God told Abraham to lift up his eyes and look. Many times, we become so consumed with our surrounding circumstances so that we forget to really see the options we have in God. We see lack, inability, containment instead of seeing God. Something needs to change in us. I am not saying that we should not be discreet and prudent, but that we should always factor in God.
This is what God was telling Abraham. He asked Abraham to lift up his eyes and get comfortable with the future. Just imagine and let your mind enter your future because where the mind goes, the man will follow. Allow yourself the pleasure of being comfortable with some things. Just as God told Abraham to lift up his eyes, start being comfortable with your future. Do not allow yourself to see stress in your future. Get to the word of God and renew your mind. See ease in your future.
In Matthew 11:30 Jesus said my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Leave the work to God; your main work is to develop your faith and renew your mind. Lift up your eyes from the place where you are because that place has been the problem and has got you bound. You have fellowshipped with it so much that it has become your reality. Now God says you must consciously lift up your eyes away from that place.
Find your new location in the word of God and fix your eyes there. God said to Abraham, all the land that you see, to you will I give it and to your seed. And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed also will be numbered. God said in Genesis 13:17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
God told Abraham to arise and walk the length and the breadth of the land and I will give it to you. I call this land the land of no limits. It is the land of possibilities. Know what God has told you and keep the picture in your heart. Look beyond the present happenings and make your preparations for the eminent breakthrough and the growth and increase that is ahead of you.
To us in the New Testament, God says, I have given it unto you. In verse 18, Abraham removed from the physical place he was, Ur of the Chaldees to go Canaan. That movement was physical but for us today the movement is primarily mental. It is a shift on the inside. You must see yourself a certain way in your future and you must be comfortable with that.
You must begin to relate with your future right now even though it has not happened. That is what vision helps you to do. Remove and refuse to see yourself sick or single. Refuse to see stagnation round about you. Renew your mind and move to a place in your heart and then work it out. A man’s limits are in the way that he thinks and believes. For with the heart man believes. Your heart is the power house.
Nobody can believe anything without being instructed. Everything you believe today came from information that was passed to you such as the words of the aged, specifically those schooled in God’s word. How experienced are you in the word of God? There are things in life that you will never get if you do not exercise your faith in the word of God. So today, remove the limit in your thinking and believing. Your business is to acquaint yourself with what you know God has spoken. If you are born again, do not forget who you are.
Genesis 13:18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
Old wives’ fables and traditions of men are some of the greatest barriers for God’s operations in the lives of men. That is the reason for the teaching and the preaching of the word of God so that those barriers can be removed. There are all kinds of beliefs that people have that are not rooted in the word of God and before you know what is happening, such beliefs put a casing upon the life of the man.
You must get into the word of God and allow it to expand you for all your expectations if not you will talk just like every other person. The bible tells us that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro the whole earth, looking for those whose hearts are loyal and steadfast toward him; that he might show himself strong on their behalf (2 Chronicle 16:9). It is not about speaking what everyone in church is speaking but saying what you are personally established in.
What do you know from the word of God? What is the word you are running with? What is the light inside of you concerning your life and your future? God’s word must take root in you to the extent that it projects something concerning your future. So as you walk in this light, you constantly see your end because you know what your end is. David prayed; O God show me my end.
Abraham removed from one place to another and there he built an altar. I believe that altar meant a place of consecration. A place from which there was no going back. You must come to a place in your life with the word of God that there is no going back. Prosperity and plenty should not be an option for you. Health and healing is no longer an option for you. Success in your endeavours is no longer an option. You need to draw the line. There is no going back.
The word of God has connected you to the supernatural. Nobody should be able to talk you out of it. People can come and go as they will but you remain standing on the word. When you get to a place like this with the word of God, then you are ready for the shift God has for you. Do not be caught talking foolishly because you know who you are, where you are coming from and where you are going in God. Let your lips be instructed and let the words of your mouth exempt you. Do not open your mouth and join forces with foolishness. Get into the word of God and let him paint a solid picture of where you are going.
The question is, are you in God? God is our refuge and our help. He is our strength and our defence. He is our prosperity and our wisdom. He is our direction and we are not alone. Listen, you are in the finest hour of your life and you have to ensure that the things you hear are the wholesome things. Fear and unbelief are spiritual insanity and these things are foreign to the child of God.
We must continue to hear words that will keep our vision and our minds straight so that at every point in our lives, we expect the favour of God to prosper and enlarge us. It has nothing to do with what is going on around. God’s hand is upon us and we are in good shape. Do not forget who you are. Watch out for carnal alliances. Do not allow pressure to move you to making decisions that are not sound spiritually.
Do not put the word of God to second place. If you walk in the flesh, you will find yourself in the place of disadvantage because you did not align with God and his word.
It is well with your homes, your work and your families. You are the people of God and are blessed. You are preserved and you prosper in this land. There will be no loss in your ranks because loss is not permitted in your habitation. There will be no lack round about you. When others are breaking down, you will be breaking through. Do not allow the enemy to still the vision of who you are. Keep that picture clear. Stay in the word and prayer. The word of God is true and the word of God is working for you.
Let the whole earth praise the Lord!
