From ANENE AIKE, SOKOTO

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Sokoto , has reserved Judgment in the Appeal filed before it by the defeated Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party  ( PDP), in the Sokoto South Senatorial District election conducted on February 23, 2019, Senator Abdullahi Ibrahim Danbaba, against the declaration of the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Senator Abubakar Shehu Tambuwal, as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission  ( INEC).

The 2019 National and State Assemblies Elections Petitions Tribunal, which sat in Sokoto,  had earlier upheld the election of Senator Abubakar Shehu Tambuwal and dismissed the petition filed by Senator Danbaba.

In the same vein, the Court of Appeal has reserved judgment in two House of Representatives cases filed before it .

The first one was the Petition filed before it by the defeated Candidate of the PDP in the Rabah / Wurno Federal Constituency election,  conducted on February 23, 2019, Hon.  Kabiru Marafa Achida, against the election of the APC Candidate,  Architect Ibrahim Almustapha Rabah.

The second one was the Petition filed by the defeated Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP ), in the Gwadabawa / Illela Federal Constituency election conducted on February 23, 2019,  Hon. Halliru Garba Gidan Hamma, against the election of the APC Candidate,  Dr Abdullahi Balarabe Salame.

It could be recalled that, the National and States Assemblies Elections Petitions Tribunal, which sat in Sokoto had earlier dismissed the Petitions,  filed before it by both Hon.  Gidan Hamma and Hon. Achida .

In another development,  the Court has adjourned the Petition filed before by the Candidate of the APC in the Binji / Silame Federal Constituency election conducted on February 23,2019, Hon. Sa’adu Na-Bunkari, against the election of the Candidate of the PDP , Hon. Mani Mai-Shinko Katami,to Tuesday , October 8,2019, for continuation of hearing .

This followed the granting of an application made by the Lead Counsel of Na-Bunkari , Barrister Nuhu Adamu, to tomorrow , to effect some corrections in his submission .The lower Court had also earlier upheld the election of Hon. Katami.

Meanwhile , the National and States Assemblies Elections Petitions Tribunal, which sat in Sokoto, has dismissed the Petitions filed  before it , by the defeated Candidates of the PDP in the Kebbe and Goronyo State Constituencies elections conducted on March 9,2019.The defeated Candidate of the PDP in the Kebbe Constitueny, Shuaibu Umar, had filed a Petition before the Tribunal, where he challenged the declaration of APC’s Hon. Isa Harisu Kebbe as the winner by INEC.

Also, the defeated Candidate of the PDP in the Goronyo Constituency, Hon. Abdulwahab Yahayya Goronyo, had filed a Petition, where he challenged the declararation of Hon. Faruku Ahmed Rimawa,as the winner by INEC.

Reacting to the Judgements, Hon. Isa Harisu Kebbe and Hon. Faruku Ahmed Rimawa,  expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for their victories, while they lauded the leader of the APC in the State , Senator Aliyu Magatakarda,  state and local governments leadership , as well as their various constituents, for their sustained invaluable support to them.
