From AMEDU JOSEPH,  Lokoja

A Human Right Activist and President of Kogi Integrity Group, Zacheaus Dare  has described the claim by Dr. J. O. Folorunsho, a lecturer in the Geography Department,  that crisis is ravaging the Federal University, Lokoja, as unfounded, bias and misleading.

The  activist who  spoke to our correspondent on the development, declared that the allegation is untrue, stressing that the claims were found to be ill motivated and a figment of the lecturer’s imagination.

Zacheaus Dare Michael revealed that Dr. Folorunsho, a factional leader of ASUU, provided the misleading information to the press all in a bid to create disaffection amongst the management and staffers of FUL and the public.

He also noted  that the information made available to the press by Dr. Folorunsho was done with the intention to mislead the public, saying that the prevailing situation in the institution does not suggest any crisis situation.

He told Our correspondent that in course of his findings, the Registrar of the University dismissed  Dr Folorunsho’s allegation of irregularities in the recent employment exercise carried out by the institution describing it as  baseless and misleading as the exercise was said to have followed due process.

Dare maintained that the employment did not just followed due process, but said the Federal Character Commission had their representative in the committee.

“Aside monitoring the process, they also issued a certificate of compliance, adjudging the exercise to have followed due diligence. Dare stressed

He added that in order to enhance staff welfare, over 200 academic and non academic staff of the university were promoted in the 2016, 2017 and 2018 exercise, saying that the promotion exercise for 2019 is at the final stage of completion.

He said there is no rift between the management and the Academic Staff Union of the University as claimed by Dr. Folorunsho, noting that findings revealed that the claims were ill motivated and a calculated attempt to run down the University Management for selfish reasons.

“Possibly out of ignorance, he did not know too that no graduate of the university was yet to be mobilized for NYSC. Dr. Folorunsho, is also not aware that Universities don’t mobilize graduates, rather the NYSC, going to the press with such claims was unnecessary.

On the claim of non release of the first semester exams results was out of ignorance, as the institution exam management is still within  the window and time frame of marking and preparing the results of students before onward delivery to the Senate for its approval.
