The newly inaugurated council secretary, 7 supervisory councilors and 20 wards part-time Councillors of Jos South Local Government Council (LGC) have been charged to work as a team, in order to further transform the area to a land of milk and honey.

Plateau State Commissioner of Works, Hon Pam Botmang gave the charge during the inauguration ceremony of the appointees, held at the LGC Secretariat, Bukuru, last Thursday.

Hon.Botmang congratulated the appointees for the appointments and told them that leadership is given by God, and urged them to have the interest of the people at heart while discharging their respective duties.

He called on the people of Jos South to embrace one another, irrespective of tribe and religion, saying that peace is an essential commodity that everyone need to value in the society.

Speaking shortly before administering the oath of office, the Oath Commissioner, Barrister Bitrus Dung told the appointees    that oath taking is a serious business, hence the need for them to abide by the terms of the oath as individuals, in order to serve people well.

In his remarks, Management Committee Chairman, Jos South LGC, Hon Choji Dachung Yohana expressed profound appreciation to Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State for the opportunity given to them to serve at the grassroots.

Hon, Yohana assured the people of Jos South LGA that the administration would leave no stone unturned to justify the confidence reposed in them, adding that the occasion was not only memorable, but very historic, because destiny has provided an opportunity for them to render positive and enduring service to humanity, especially to the people of Jos South LGA.

He maintained that the local government is widely known to be the industrial and administrative haven of Plateau State, apart from being the centre of enduring cultures due to the numerous ethnic groups which co-exist with the natives.

Hon. Yohana noted that many administrations have come, contributed their own quota and gone, saying that it was now their turn to prove their capability by carrying the baton to the final stage of the race, saying that the task before them was a herculean one, but can be tackled no matter how rough the terrain may be.

He admonished the appointees to see themselves as servants rather than lords over the people, adding that the humble disposition of Governor Lalong who sees himself as servant leader should be emulated so that they can render quality service delivery to the people at all times.

He added that his expectation was to see that they work conscientiously, selflessly and tirelessly so as to prove the confidence on them, saying that together they can chart a course for meaningful development in the locality, adding that this can only be possible if they carry the people along.

Hon, Yohana implored the people of Jos South LGA to rally round the administration and give it the enabling environment to serve, adding that it was their intention to initiate deliberate policies by being very transparent and accessible, in order to erase any form of suspicion, saying  “you are free to criticize, but please let it be constructive”.

Our correspondent reports that the inaugurated supervisory councilors include; Choji Chung Emmanuel, Finance, Yohana Pwajok; Social Service, Pwajok Jerry Sugaba; Education, Isa Mohammed; Budget, Research, Planning and Statistics, Florence Chebundu; Agriculture and Natural Science, Kim Z. Luke; Works while Christiana John Zi of THE NIGERIA STANDARD newspaper, Jos is the Supervisory Councillor for Primary Health/Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Council Secretary, Hon, Gyang Badung thanked the chairman for finding them worthy to serve their people and assured the people of the locality that they would not disappoint them.
