GOVERNOR Simon Lalong of Plateau has pledged his administration continued partner with the United Nations International Children Fund (UNICEF) to provide support and protection to the rights of children and the vulnerable in the society.
Lalong gave this indication when the Chief Field Officer UNICEF office Bauchi, Bhanu Pathak paid him a visit at Government House, Rayfield Jos, Thursday.
Lalong while appreciating the continues partnership with the United Nation’s International Children Fund over the years, noted that the organization has impacted a lot on the lives of many Nigerians.
Lalong represented by his Deputy Professor Sonni Tyoden assured them of governments support in their programmes for the benefit of all citizens.
The Chief Field Officer, UNICEF, Bhanu Pathak had said that the organization has been focusing on childrens right, mal-nutrition, healthcare, water supply and environment among others.
He appealed for government support for the payment of counterpart fund of enable them perform the duties.
Meantime, Governor Simon Lalong also received on a courtesy call members of the Local Organizing Committee of Civil Society on Cancer Eradication conference scheduled to take in the state this week.
The committee chairman, Tokbish Yohanna said Plateau State has been the hosting right for the first time in Nigeria after Abuja and called on the state government to give the committee the needed to carry out the crucial event.
Responding, Governor Lalong represented by his Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden appreciated the effort of the organization in raising awareness and fight for the eradication of Cancer in Nigeria.
He promised to support the committee to hosting the conference and the implementation of Cancer eradication plan in the state.
