THE House of Representatives Committee on Air Force has called for an urgent deployment of security to Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States to tackle bandits and insurgents in the North West.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Mohammed Koko made the request recently at the budget defence with the Nigeria Air Force held at the National Assembly complex.
Representative Koko explained that the establishing a Quick Response Wing (QRW) in Kebbi State which has two international borders of Benin and Niger Republics will assist in curtailing increase insecurity challenges in the area.
He disclosed that the committee will do all within its powers to sustain the good work by ensuring adequate budgetary provision is given to this sector during the period of budget process.
Responding, the Chief of Air Staff, Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar disclosed that over the years, the force has been faced with security challenges and thus have engaged with criminal elements trying to undermine the country’s security.
He said the force is about to acquire two helicopters from Italy which are expected to be delivered in Nigeria by December this year.
