The District Head of Jimeta Alhaji Inuwa Baba Paris a prominent and vocal traditional ruler in Yola the Adamawa State capital has expressed concern over the activities of miscreants at the Sambisa Forest located at the bank of River Benue.
Baba Paris said that unless law enforcement agencies take proactive measures, then the state capital could witness worst developments than being experienced by what is happening in the North East part of the country.
According to him while speaking to newsmen at the office of the Police Command Public Relations Officer, there is evil being perpetuated at the forest.
“The miscreants composed of Shila boys and what have you are armed to the teeth coupled with consumption of hard drugs and commit all sorts of atrocities”, he laments.
He stressed that it has been difficult to enter the place even by the security operatives adding that the miscreants are a law to themselves.
“When I invaded the forest along with security agents, we discovered that they operate a clinic and deal with all sorts of intoxicants such as using one syringe to inject themselves and anyone who find himself a victim”, he enthused.
Baba Paris disclosed that they picked several boys who were injected but over slept adding that it took some of the boys about a week to come back to their senses and only to discover they were at the Police cell.
The traditional ruler noted that “They even own canoes for escape in the event of invasion by security men”.
Responding to a question, he called on the state government to cut off all the trees to enable for visibility. He insisted that it was just a matter of time for crisis to explode.
Our Correspondent reports that the Jimeta Sambisa forest is located before the Jimeta Bridge and all forms of crimes is reportedly perpetrated there.
