THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been called upon to ensure free, fair and credible governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
The Secretary-General, Middle Belt Youth Forum , Alaku Dan Kadarko made the call in a press statement made available to SUNDAY STANDARD where he emphasized that with free and fair election the choice of the electorate will prevail.
“Nigeria is in dire need of rescue from trailing the path of mistrust on the government and its institutions can only be reinvigorated when the desire of the citizens are made to prevail,” he said.
He noted that the attention of Nigerians was with the electoral umpire at this particular period which any abnormality from their side would tarnish the confidence reposed on them.
“There is nothing that would sustain and unite the country as a nation like ensuring the will of the people prevails” he maintained.
Kadarko further challenged the security agencies to ensure professionalism during the construction of the election advising that they should keep away from any partisanship.
He however, charged the people of the states to come out and vote the candidate of their choice and to shun any act of violence during and after the polls.
He noted that the same spirit of fairness, sportsmanship, and friendship should be imbibed by the aspirants in all the contesting parties and their candidates in the Bayelsa governorship election with the Kogi State elections as a litmus test.
