The Forum of 16 political parties in Kogi state who participated in the recent election has strongly condemned in strong terms the call for cancellation of the governorship election by civil society groups.

In a press conference address by the leader of the group and Governorship candidate of Young Democratic Party, (YDP), Dr. Sani Shaibu Teidi who is the Coalition Chairman said “It has become necessary to make our stand clear in the protection and stability of the growth of Democracy and Kogi state.

“Because of the enormity of waste and loss of lives that might have occurred in the course of re-run of another election. All aggrieved political parties should play the game by the rule. Kogi state is our state, the only panacea for development is peace

“We therefore stated that 16 out of the Governorship candidates have accepted the result of the election and we urge the losers to work with the winner, while we call on the winner to be magnanimous in victory and prepare to mend fences for all-inclusive Governance.

According to him,” We are also appealing to all Kogi Stakeholders to accept the winner for participatory Governance”.

Dr. Teidi said the forum congratulated the Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for the overwhelming victory at the poll and appreciates all those who participated in the election.

” We however condemned in totality the call for cancellation of the election by civil society saying the reasons are because of the enormity of waste and loss of lives that might occur in the course of another election.

The Coalition Chairman urged all aggrieved political parties to play the game by the rules, adding that maintaining unity in Kogi state is the panacea for development and peace.
