The author of the book, “This is Nigeria”, Mr. Bello Lukman of the Unity FM Radio and TV has been commended for his immense contributions to the promotion of peace, unity and development of Plateau State, particularly through his educative, informative and radio programme in the state and beyond.
Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA) Rt. Hon Ayuba Abok gave the commendation at the lunch of the book held at Usiju World Centre Jos, the Plateau State capital, Sunday.
Hon. Abok said that the book was very rich considering its contents and assured the author of the House’ continuous support in all that he was doing for the progress of the state, adding that the book is also important to the law makers in the state.
He added that the author’s contribution in writing books is no doubt a true reflection of someone who has Plateau State and the country at heart and encouraged him to maintain such tempo.
Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Plateau State, Hon. Dayabu Garka who was one of the recipients of the award applauded the effort of the author of the book, describing him as a well focused and committed person who is ready to always contribute his quota positively to the society, both in writing books and radio programmes.
The book reviewer, Mr. Luka Panpe, who is a lecturer with the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi said having gone through the book page by page and also chapter by chapter, he discovered that the book was small in size but very rich in content.
Mr. Panpe noted that some of the issues raised in the book were tears-shading, as it concerns indiscipline, leadership desperation, bribery and corruption, sex for marks among students as well as issues associated with gender inequality among several other issues, saying that the importance of the book cannot be over emphasized as far as its entire content was concerned.
He further explained that the entire book has 85 pages, 6 chapters and also 6 major issues, saying that the author has done a lot of work that would help shape the nation.
Speaking shortly after receiving an award, Vice Chancellor of the Plateau State University Bokkos, Professor Yohanna Izang appreciated Mr. Bello Lukman for finding him worthy for the award, saying that the university is one of the beneficiaries of the book, adding that it would be very useful to the institution and wished the author the best in all his endeavors in life.
Member representing Pengena Constituency in PLHA, Hon. Yakubu Sanda who also received an award of enduring politician on the Plateau who started contesting election since 1999 before he now became the present member representing Pengana Constituency, said that he was overwhelmed with the award given him, saying that the award would be dedicated to the glory of God, because everything comes from Him.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Shendam local government council, Hon. Alex Naantuam lauded the contributions of the Bello Lukman on radio, which he said has continued to change the negative perception that some people have about Plateau, urging him not relent on such a wonderful effort
On his part, Chairman of Kanke LGC, Hon. Emmanuel Lar saluted the author’s courage and hard work, especially for the 3 books he had written so far, saying that he would encourage, especially the young people in his LGA to buy those books, adding that all the books written and lunched by the author were good, for public use.
In his remarks, the author of the book, Mr. Bello Lukman expressed delight and thanked God for making the event a huge success, and also appreciated companies and some individuals for supporting the event.
Mr. Lukman appreciated all those who graced the epoch making event, saying that he was over whelmed with the large turnout of the people during the event, saying that the choice of the book was born out of his desire to promote peace and unity in the country.
