We left off last time around saying; many people do not get revelation from the word of God because they do not practice it. It is just head knowledge to them. They have no working or experiential knowledge. You cannot know the word of God by just studying it. You study and then you begin to practice what you are studying. That is when you engage the word and the Spirit of God will now work with you to show you the things you need to know.

When the bible talks about knowledge in Proverbs 11:9 where it says,an hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered; it is not talking about head knowledge that you only get from reading books or from listening to teaching tapes.

It is talking about an experiential knowledge where you have taken the word of God and are putting it into practice. And as you make effort to practice it, the Holy Ghost will start giving you more and more understanding.

Hosea 4:6 saysmy people are destroyed for lack of (experiential) knowledge… this is why the bible says you must be a doer of the work and not a forgetful hearer.

2 Peter 1:1&2 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

Notice the scripture above said as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge. It did not say through the Pastor laying hands on you. I am not saying it is wrong for the Pastor to lay hands on you but if there is no faith working in you, then all the Pastor is doing is laying empty hands on empty heads.

Now, the word translated as knowledge in the verse above is “epignosis” in the Greek. This simply means exact knowledge.

You can only get to exact knowledge by experience. We must invest in knowledge to bring ourselves to a place of faith. Epignosis is talking about knowledge that comes as a result of you engaged in doing God’s word. We engage God’s word by studying it which is the first step, after which we must put it into practice. Doing this gets you into the realms of the wisdom of God.

There is something that comes to a man who practices the word of God that does not come to anybody else. We must learn to practice the word of God. As a matter of fact, church is supposed to be school. It is a place where the believer ought to be equipped with skills with which he is to engage the world and win. This is what the bible is advocating when it says seek first the kingdom of God. Seeking God is not just serving God anyway you can but it is primarily what you are studying and learning and putting into practice.

2 Cor. 9:6-8 but this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: Remember that we are talking about “all things”.  Look also at Matt 6:33 which say when you seek out the Kingdom of God “all things” are added unto you: in other words when you seek a working knowledge of God’s word, it opens the door for all things to be added unto you.

God is able to cause an excess to come into your life through causing all grace to abound to you. There is a place in life called “all grace”. In that place, things are created and made to happen. God’s willingness to use his power to help us is his grace.

Something interesting I have noticed is that the only place God talks about this “all grace” is in connection to what you do with your finances. I challenge you to go through both the Old and New Testament and you will find that the only place God talks about “all grace” is as it concerns your finances.

Think about this: in God’s kingdom, your financial and material things will not only bring you back financial and material blessings but they will also bring you into the realm of all grace. Money and material things are a very versatile dynamic seed in God’s scheme of things. This is because it is only money and material things that can successfully compete with God in any person’s heart.

God knows this and that is why he requires the test to overcome the influence of money and material things in a man’s heart. If you can conquer the influence of money and material things in your life, then God can bring your life into this place that is called all-grace or all sufficiency.

Make a study of the word of God and look up every place where God uses the word all and everything; you will find out that 90% of the time, these words are used in connection to material supply to his people. I tell you there is a zone of God’s grace that we can step into where everything begins to work for us. This zone is the seeking first a working knowledge and understanding of God’s kingdom and his righteousness.

Indeed you cannot buy the blessings of God but there is something you can do to participate in God’s kingdom economics and that is sowing your financial and material seeds. And as it says in the scripture we quoted above, God is able to make all grace abound toward you;that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work(2 Cor. 9:8); in other words,God is causing this grace to come into your life so that you can be generous.

God wants to make you generous so that when you go anywhere and see a legitimate work of God, you will have to give towards it. The purpose of all grace is to make you generous.

Now I want you to see how this grace comes about. 2 Cor. 8:1-2 moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of (or we want to bring to your notice) the grace of God bestowed (or placed) on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty (in other words, they were going through hard times facing apparent deep poverty yet their deep poverty) abounded unto the riches of their liberality. In the midst of the hard times they were facing, instead of it making them stingy, despondent and discouraged, it had a reverse action on them: THAT IS THE GRACE OF GOD.

Out of the depth of their poverty, the bible records that what was coming forth was liberality so much so that Paul the Apostle was amazed. A church that was going through so many crises, Paul saw great financial blessing coming out of it to bless others and the work of the ministry. It was the GRACE OF GOD that made this happen.

Less anyone think that the grace of God just fell upon this Macedonian church without their participation, Paul goes on to say in 2 Cor. 8:3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves…and I tell you that this is the primary key to the grace of God working in a man’s life: WILLINGNESS. Are you willing to obey God? Because if you are, the grace of God will flow.

…to be continued.
