Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has said that, now that the state is peaceful, it intends to make businesses in the state to be stronger by providing necessary impetus to make businesses thrive in the state.
The Governor said this Friday during the 3rd Executive Dinner with the business community in Jos held at the Banquet hall of Government House, Little Rayfield,Jos.
While commending the business community for making the business of the state thrive, said, government ID doing everything possible to make its revenue to be on the upscale,stressed that, the executive retreat held at NIPSS Kuru, agreed to make administration easier so as to reduce to its barest minimum the over dependence on Statutory Allocation from the federal government.
Governor Lalong used the occasion to reveal to them of his visit to Nigeria Initiative base risk system for Agricultural lending (NIRSAL) towards partnership for the development of the Agricultural base businesses amongst others.
Earlier,in his speech, the managing Director of plateau investment and property development corporation,PIPC, Emmanuel Yilzak said plateau State cannot survive as a state because it’s Internally generated revenue,IGR, cannot support it’s expenditure,so, the need to for capital investments that will ensure a concurrent increase in revenue, high productivity and efficient development of the investment.
Mrs Grace Chikan of the African Women entrepreneur, Emmanuel Shipi of Tomato farmers, Habila Mutla of Fadama farmers,Bukola Adelakun of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria,MAN and representative of the GIZ while thanking the Governor for providing the enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state, said, by bringing peace in the state, old and new businesses has continued to blossoms,calling for intervention for them to access more funds expand and develop new businesses.
Commissioners Yakubu Dati of lands and Survey,Abe Aku of Commerce and Industry,Hosea Finangwai of Agriculture, Chrisantus Ahmadu of Justice and Dashe Arlat of the State Revenue Service expressed their experiences and the way forward to make businesses thrive in the state and how raised revenue of the state.#
In another development, the Northern Governors Forum has condoled with the former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over the loss of his long term aide Umar Pariya.
Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong in a statement described the death of Pariya as a great loss not only to his immediate family, but to the nation at large having supported the former Vice President in his service to Nigeria.
The statement by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, DrMakut Simon Machan described Pariya as a diligent aide who demonstrated competence, loyalty and excellence in his duties as assigned by the former Vice President.
Lalong prayed God to grant the soul of the late Pariya eternal rest and give his family and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the grace to bear the loss.
