A group in Kogi State under the aegis of the Forum of Immediate Past Local Government Political Office Holders (FIPLGPOH) has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his inclusive governance in prioritizing issues that concern the group.
The group gave the commendation Friday in Lokoja, at a stakeholders meeting with Hon. Arome Alfa, Technical Adviser to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Engineer Abubakar Sadiku Ohere over issues bordering the interest of the group.
The Forum noted that the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello since inception has demonstrated uncommon passion for the welfare of the youths and the sustainable development of the state as it had granted the defrayment of the severance packages of the former political office holders at the Local Government Councils.
In their separate speeches, the Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Abdullahi Musa and Mohammed Idris Omale respectively gave kudos to Governor Yahaya Bello, his Deputy, Chief David Edward Onoja and the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Engr. Ohere for their unflinching support for the forum in meeting their financial demands assuring the government of their loyalty.
They added that, the Technical Director Hon. Arome Alfa has played remarkable roles in ensuring that the forum’s request did received prompt attention from appropriate authorities by given nod to the release of the first tranche of their severance packages.
According to them, “The present government has demonstrated uncommon love for the people at the grassroots. Although was not our employers, but has paid significantly what we are being owed”.
“We call on all our members to give needed support and loyalty to Governor Yahaya Bello, his Deputy Chief David Onoja and the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair for their commitment to our group. We assure them, that whenever we are called upon in any capacity , we will not disappoint them.
In his own contribution, Hon. Amidu Anaja hinted that his members are sensitive to the progress and development agenda of the government, stressing that the group has been in the forefront in the support of the administration.
He appealed to the government to expedite action to defray the remaining balance of the severance allowance and ensure those who were omitted in the first payment are captured.
In a remark, the representative of the Commissioner, Hon. Arome Alfa acknowledged the support of the forum to the government and urged them not to relent in the synergy with the government aimed at projecting the new direction agenda of the government.
He promised to convey their request to the government for accelerated approval at meeting their demand urging them to remain united so as to be able to speak with one voice on issues of their welfare and Political progression.
