Plateau state Government has said that anyone having complaints against the installation of any new traditional ruler recently inaugurated should channel his grievances properly rather than resort to cheap political propaganda.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong said this last Wednesday at the coronation/presentation of staff of office to thae Long Mhiship, Wesley Mullak as 2nd Class, Mishkom Yusuf Fwangbring as 2nd Class Chief of Mupun, Rudengma Lawi Bulus as 3rd Class Chief of Kadung,Gwolong Nanleng Gotus as 3rd class Chief of Tal and Nde Lamgocha Tarar Ngolong Pai as 3rd Class held at Nefur Arena, Pankshin.

The Governor advised all tribes that  have vacant stools to put their heads together to elect their traditional rulers or government would be forced to install one for them.

Governor Lalong however urged traditional rulers in the state to continue to mobilize sensitize and unite their people towards taking advantage of various government initiatives aimed at empowering them for more productivity.

The Governor further said government would be relying on traditional rulers for the maintenance of peace and security in their domains by deploying structures to meditate and resolve conflicts before they got out of hand.

He also said, the decision to restore and create chiefdoms and districts was part of his administration’s effort to ensure peace and development.

Earlier, in his speech, the Chairman of Pankshin local government area, Sir John Damap while applauding the Governor for taking a giant stride by restoring and upgrading the chieftaincy stools, described him as the emancipator of the people.

He urged the benefitting traditional rulers to support the government by cooperating with the state and local governments towards peaceful coexistence.

Meanwhile, the Long Gamai, Miskoom Martins Shaldas III has said that although people were craving for the upgrading of their traditional stools, the selection process should be in line with the customs and tradition of the people.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sylvanus Tapgun urged the benefitting communities to support their traditional rulers.

Responding on behalf of our other benefiting traditional rulers, Mishkom Yusuf Fwangbring, Mishkom Mupun, thanked the Governor for the upgrading, saying he has fulfilled his promises to the people,  and noted that under leadership of the Governor, the state has experience peace and promised not to disappoint him.

There were good will messages from the Development Associations of the benefitting communities.
