Following the presidential order to use airforce and flushed out bandits in Niger state forests, Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has said shortage of manpower is responsible for increase insecurity in the state and the country in general.
In a Swift reaction to the presidential call, Governor Bello has procured 12 Hilux Van and 120 motorcycles to the four worse hit local governments in the state which includes; Rafi, Munya, Shiroro and Mariga Local government. 3 hilux and 30 motorcycles per local government.
Addressing journalists along with all the service chiefs in the state, the governor said “It is out of place to address press on security plans but we need to do it to bridge the gaps between people and the government. We have to restrategize our plans because all our plans are already before the public domain, we live in a society that you cannot even trust you neighbour even in this hall yes!”
The governor said the state after careful analysis of the security situations on ground, had decided to use the vigilante group who knows the nook and crannies of the affected areas.
He maintained that though it is out of place to give out information about security plan, but for the fact that everything is been politicised, government have no option than to give detail explanation of the true side of the story so that it will not appears as if it is sleeping over the matter.
Recalled that the presidency has recently ordered the use of air force to flush out bandits in Niger forest, the governor said the information is already on social media and if the air force go there now the may not find the bandits because they are already aware.
He admitted that the uniform men are been killed in the country on a daily bases, even as he admonished Nigerians to encourage those in front line battle rather than criticizing them. “You see, when someone is in battle line all you need to do is to pray for him, support him and encourage him.”
The governor maintained that for security issue to be a thing of the pass in the state, and the country, every hand must be on deck to ensure these fit is achieved.
Presently the worse local government in Niger state facing security challenges, are Munya, Shiroro, Rafi, and Mariga.
