IN order to reduce challenges affecting the girl-child, the Plateau state government has pledged to support The Global Women Empowerment Network (GWEN), and Film producers in Diaspora to shoot a movie in Plateau state to tell the Plateau story.

The movie titled “Road to Redemption” will reveal the challenges associated with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) and the girl- child.

Receiving the project team members in his office, Lalong said through the state’s  Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development, the government will grant its cooperation. And partner with the group to do the movie.

“We shall partner with your group to educate people about these social ills. We look forward to watching the film as a strategy for enlightenment and sensitisation of people about child marriage dangers and VVF challenges”, the Governor said.

Speaking earlier, GWEN COO, Tess Cacciatore, who is an international film maker and producer said GWEN is transforming lives through the power of storytelling.

“We want to come to Plateau and work in the area of VVF and other issues. We will not only like you to feature in the film, but to support the film which centres on the VVF centre in the state and challenges of the girl-child”.

“The film is about a young girl who faced a lot of challenges as a girl-child and we want Plateau state to lead the way to the film.
