THE Nasarawa State Government has lauded the contribution of Dr Mathew Ishaya Audu, the outgoing Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Lafia for promoting peaceful co-existence among Christians and non- Christians in the state and the society at large.
The State Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen during the 35th Priestly Ordination Anniversary/ 60th birthday celebration of Ishaya-Audu.
SUNDAY Standard recalls that on Jan.8, most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja and Apostolic Administrator of Jos Archdiocese, has confirmed the appointment of Bishop Mathew Audu, as the Archbishop of Jos.
He expressed the delight that Ishaya Audu has contributed positively to the development of not only the Christians family not the state and the country at large, hence the need for the commendation and therefore wished the bishop well in his new place of primary assignment as the ArchBishop of Jos Diocese.
Akabe who restated the state government continued commitment to promote religious harmony in the state in the interest of development therefore called on the people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another in the interest of peace and development.
Also speaking, Bishop Joseph Masin, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nasarawa State also lauded the contributions of Ishaya Audu on peaceful co-existence among the people of the state.
He described the bishop as a humble man of God and prayed God to bless him abundantly and prayed God to continue to guide and protect the bishop in his new place of assignment.
Also speaking, Mr Labaran Maku, the former Minister of Information further lauded the contributions of Ishaya Audu for contributing positively in the area of peace, health and education among other sectors.
“ His lordship is a man of God and he has contributed positively to the development of the church and the society at large and his policies in the area of health and education had affected the lives of the people of the state and Nigeria positively based on that I wish him well as the new Arch Bishop of Jos Diocese, “ he said.
The former All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State assured of his support to the development of the Catholic Church and the society at large.
