In recognition for hard work, Plateau State Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Dr, Mrs. Regina Soemlat has bagged award of the most Proactive Commissioner of Finance in Northern Nigeria from the Coalition of Civil Society Organization of Nigeria, for good governance.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the ministry’s Information Officer, Mr. Timothy Zitta and made available to The Nigeria Standard in Jos.
The statement revealed that the award presentation took place at the ministry’s conference hall, J.D. Gomwalk State secretariat Jos, last Friday.
Dr. Mrs. Soemlat expressed delight and thanked the organization for finding her worthy to bag the award.
She said that the award would first be dedicated to God and also Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State, for particularly finding her worthy to serve in his cabinet.
She noted that any success recorded in the ministry were through the support and cooperation of the entire staff of the ministry.
The commissioner further explained that the award would no doubt spur her to do more, adding that she would continue doing everything possible to ensure that the ministry does not fails in it responsibility in the state.
Earlier, Chairman Coalition of Civil Society Organizations of Nigeria Evangelist Dandura Takalis who presented the award described the commissioner as very committed and hard working person, urging her to maintain such tempo.
The leader of the group said Governor Lalong did not make any mistake for appointing Dr Mrs. Soemlat as a commissioner in charge of the state Finance, particularly for her prudent management of the state resources among others.
In a vote of thanks, Director Internal Audit and Control of the ministry Mr. Williams Songkat thanked the group for choosing the finance commissioner for the award which he said was apt as far as her office was concerned, particularly in managing the state resources.
