The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, has shot dead one of the suspected kidnappers and arrested another that have been terrorizing Shendam/Quan-Pan Local Government axis over the years, as he was paraded alongside other criminals recently at the Force Headquarters in Jos, the state capital.

Parading the suspect, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede, said, “ on 11/02/2020 at about 0700hrs, one Rev. Ganko Istifanus ‘m’ of COCIN RCC Shimankar village in Shendam LGA of Plateau State, reported at the Shendam Divisional Police Headquarters, that about 0530hrs, unknown gunmen entered his residence and kidnapped his son, one Godsave Damen, and two others named; Henry Zwansat and Auwalu Longtoe, to unknown destination.

“ On receipt of the information, a combined team of Policemen, Vigilantes and Hunters were immediately mobilized to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. In the process, one of the kidnappers was shot dead while others took to the heels. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include; one AK47 riffle and 21 empty shell of live ammunitions as investigation is still in progress”, he narrated.

Also paraded was one Isiah Lawrence, aged 44years, of Gyel, Bukuru in Jos, when the police, acting on the information eagle-eyed Operatives of Operation Puff Adder and Anti-Kidnapping Unit {AKU} of the command intensified surveillance, arrested the suspect as it relates incessant attacks along Barkin-Ladi-Mangu road revealed by an impeccable source.

In the same vein, the Commissioner paraded two out of the three suspected Armed Robbery Gang, who specialized in motor-cycle snatching saying, “on 10/02/2020 at about 2300hrs while acting on a tip-off that three armed gang attacked and snatched motor-cycle from one Idris Mohammed ‘m’ of Tudun Pata, Nasarawa Gwom Jos, police attached to Nasarawa Gwom Division, swung into action and arrested one Sunday Alfa’m’ of Congo and one Uzaifa Adam ‘m’ of Agwan Keke, while the other suspect named Ebere escaped

“ The suspects are members of elusive motor-cycle snatching syndicate terrorizing Jos and environs. Exhibits recovered from them include; one locally made Revolver Pistol, a knife, one tricycle with Reg. No BKK813WM and one motor-cycle snatched from the victim”, he revealed.

CP Akinmoyede, however, implored the general public to hint the command with any useful information that would lead to the arrest of Ebere, appealing to the public to remain vigilant, security conscious and report any strange face or suspicious persons around their communities to police and urged them to continue to maintain the strong synergy with the Police and other security agencies through volunteering credible information.

He assured Plateau people of the command’s adequate security arrangements that would guarantee the security of live and property of citizens in the state, as part of its resolve to step up the fight against criminals elements in totality, advising criminal elements to re-address their steps and desist from their unholy act to avoid arrest and prosecution or relocate from the state.
