PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has asked ECOWAS countries to exercise patience on the issue of partial closure of Nigeria’s land border to goods from neighbouring countries as the matter will be determined by the report of the tripartite committee made up of Nigeria, being, and Niger Republic.
Presient Buhari made this known recently in Abuja when he received president of Burkina Faso Roch more Christian in Abuja.
The President explained that decision to partially close the border was purely to safeguard national security.
According to him, he inflow of weapons, ammunition and drugs have decline in banditry since the partial closure adding that Nigeria’s farmers can now sell their rice since the stoppage of foreign rice usually dumped in the country.
President Buhari stressed that Nigeria was very much mindful of the concern of neighbouring countries on the issue and assured them that his administration will find an early and enduring solution to the challenge.
