THE Department of Development Control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned all communities within the city centre to desist from encroaching on water board channels. Speaking at a sensitization campaign in Abuja recently, Mr. Umaru Alilu, the Water Monitor Officer for Katampe District of the Federal Capital Territory regretted that a number of water channels have been blocked by the people who build indiscriminately in the area.

He then warned that the department had marked out the illegal structures even as he vowed that nobody involved in the ongoing illegal development of structures on the water ways and on plots of land officially belonging to allotees would be spared.

He pointed out that the sensitization and consultation with the chiefs and community leaders was the administration’s policy of ensuring that all stakeholders were carried along in taking decisions on issues that impede development in the nation’s capital.

According to him the Department of Development Control would soon mobilize to remove the illegal structures after the due consultation and sensitization.
