The Plateau State Government under the guidance of H. E Simon Bako Lalong have resolved to nip in the bud the menace of the Corona Virus which has been ravaging the world for months.
In its attempts, the State government at a media briefing on the progress report on the fight against the Corona Virus pandemic recounted preemptive measures it had taken which included: sanitation and personal hygiene, crowd control of not more than 50 people, maintaining a social distance of 2 metres and 5 metres apart for traders selling food items.
The State Governor further stated how local solutions were been considered in ensuring full preparedness with Engr. Jerry Mallo been engaged to produce ventilators; the duo of Engineers Nura Jibrin and William Gyang were profusely thanked by the Governor for their service to humanity.
His Excellency also noted the propose 300-bed Treatment center to be located at Riyom General Hospital and the state NYSC Camp and the state’s Emergency Operation center at the epidemiology center Jos, was activated.
At the briefing, His Excellency revealed that the government had concluded plans to carry out a State-wide fumigation exercise which will cover Jos-Bukuru metropolis & all the 17 LGA of the state. And to the effect directed total lockdown, effective 12 midnight of Thursday 9th April 2020 to 11pm of Wednesday 15th April 2020.
